I'm a writer and a poet who has a heavy focus on LGBTQ+ rights and my experience as a part of the community. Here's my portfiolio page!
I believe that art is a core part of what makes us human. Not everyone cares about art, and that’s okay, but the passion that goes into creating art, and the themes and memories that art contains, are integral for understanding ourselves, our peers, and our history as people.
Writing especially is paramount to our ability to communicate with each other. When we take the time to sit down and write, we're giving ourselves a chance to articulate ourselves in ways that normal speech often can't. Whether it's in the form of poetry, fiction, journalism, or any other form of writing, we're creating an opportunity for us to convey a message that will last. Writing helps us to bridge the gaps between us, and to form lasting connections that will keep those connections strong.
No person is an island, and it's impossible to do everything alone. People have to be able to rely on each other in so many different parts of life, and if my writing can help someone out in a time when they're having trouble, I place a lot of value in that. If my art can reach even just one person, then making that art was worth it.
